D-Tech Cal-Plus Calcium Hydroxide Paste
D-Techs CAL- PLUS is a premixed water based Calcium Hydroxide Paste with high Radiopacity. This self setting material is useful in pulp capping and as a protective base/ liner under dental filling material. Cal – Plus protects the pulp in case of acid containing fillings and linings. It dries quickly by air and can also be used for temporary filling of root canals. Applied in several layers Cal-Plus provides a degree of thermal insulation for the pulp.
1.As a cavity base: Clean and dry the cavity. Emerge the paste from the syringe. Then gently tap the needle into the cavity dotting the base with pinpoints of the emerging paste and use the needle end as an applicator to spread it over the cavity base.Only a very minute quantity of CAL-PLUS is necessary to cover the cavity base direct a vigorous stream of warmed air on the paste so applied.This will spread it in a uniformly thin layer over the base surface which will then dry in a matter of seconds.Any excess of paste will be blown onto side walls of the cavity without harm. For rapid drying in the cavity,CAL-PLUS must be deposited in a uniformly thin layer.
2.As a base for deep cavities: Where removal of considerable decay and softene dentine has resulted in a cavity of considerable depth , CAL-PLUS provides thermal insulation under the filling material. When such a protective cushion is needed several thin layers of CAL-PLUS should be applied taking care each layer has first dried before applying the next one. Use the technique described above to spread each individual layer evenly. Each such thin layer will dry in a matter of seconds. Build up this CALCIUM HYDROXIDE cushion to desired thickness to provide an effective thermal insulation of the pulp as well as its chemical protection.
3.Endodontics: As a temporary filling material of root canal CAL-PLUS should be applied with rotary paste filler
